PURPOSE:

Informing women how to make the most of their pregnancy,
birth, and post-partum.  Teach the expectant mother what
to expect during labor and birth.  Also,  explaining medical
and non-medical pain management.  Furthermore, creating
awareness and knowledge about post-partum.

This class is 6 two hour sessions:

Session I.     Discuss terminology used by medical staff, possible minor discomforts that may be experience during pregnancy, what to pack for the hospital stay, and how to write a birth plan

Session II.    Discuss signs & symptoms of preterm labor and regular labor, the first two phases of labor and labor variations.

Session III.   Discuss the last phase of labor, pushing, birth of the baby & placenta, and medical interventions.

Session IV.   Discuss various medications available for labor, birth, and post-partum. Learn about the effects of these medications on mom, baby, and labor.

Session V.     Discuss reason why, the actual procedure, and recovery of a cesarean section.

Session VI.   Learn about post-partum recovery and the restoration of the body back to its non-pregnant state.
